Transparency

We believe in honesty and transparency.

The name GEORGIA STONE and NEW ENGLAND STONE carry heavy weight in our industry; this is due to Tony Ramos’ decades of ingenious and unprecedented production in dimensional blocks and monumental fabrication. Georgia Stone and New England Stone continue to be owned by Tony’s wife Ann Marie and their daughter Toni. Since the early 2000’s the Ramos’ have sought to encompass all of Tony’s companies under one brand name: Granites of America. Be it New England Stone, Georgia Stone, or Granites of America, we are one in the same.

When purchasing your stone please demand honesty and transparency from your supplier, and throughout the chain of purchasing/fabricating. Unfortunately, whether purposefully or mistakenly, companies and individuals at every level (consultants, salesmen, slab suppliers, fabricators, masons, installers) will acquire, or push owners/architects to the wrong granite. Here are some tips so you won’t be fooled!

Tony operated his quarries to ensure there was always a full inventory. Tony never let go of his employees for lack of work. Even during the covid pandemic Tony did not let go of any employees for ‘lack of work.’ Tony always keeps his workers quarrying, even if he did not have a purchase order or job to use the granite for. We keep Tony’s operations in place today. Therefore, we always have inventory ready for purchase. Please do not accept an answer from a consultant, supplier, or fabricator who tells you our stone is not available for your project. Should you be told this information, we ask that you contact us directly via phone or email. 401-232-2040; info@granitesofamerica.com

Always ensure your granite sample clearly states the name of the stone, the full quarry address, and quarry owner.

Always ensure your purchase orders clearly state the same information.

Don’t be fooled by knock-offs. Granite is mined at a specific, designated mine location. Our quarry addresses are found on our website. Just because a small sample might appear similar or even identical, does not mean the entire finished project will have the same appearance.

Here are some common “other names” that are NOT our granite. Should you purposefully chose a different stone is of no concern, we believe in a free-market and freedom of choice. What we strive to protect against is people being fooled into thinking they are using our stone for their project when they are receiving a different stone.

Many of our stones are attacked by knock offs specifically from China and India

Throughout the past few decades our industry has been greatly affected by the imports of material from abroad. Most heartbreaking is the health, safety, and well-being of the workers producing this imported material in some other countries. It is dangerous to quarry, fabricate, and transport granite. The standards and regulations in other countries are not the same as ours. There have been discoveries of child-labor found in the stone industry abroad.

When deciding to use a granite from overseas, we ask that you keep in mind the harmful effects this will have to our environment. Stone is heavy. Shipping stone around the world comes at a high cost to the environment.
